Yes the hole was necessary to relieve the heat build up for the crews still working in the attic. The scene Safety Officer on scene recognized the safety hazard and called them on it. Thanks though... Not sure what everyone would do without your input Captain Obvious. Remember there is a story before and after everytime a picture is taken and a video is shot and/or edited.

Feen here with some additional. I always worry about what some people will say about some of the pictures I take. As the man above stated the safety hazard was recognized on scene. I wish people would NOT use my pictures for on line critiquing of incidents. The only people who should or can accurately critique from the pictures I take are those who operated at that incident. The picture is a split second frozen in time. You do not know what was going on around, before during or after the pictures you may see. It may not have been the safest way to do what was being done. Having been on many fire scenes during all types of weather. I have seen this done at almost every fire scene, especially with such high temperatures and heat index. Helmet and bunker pants were on. I don't think there are many here if they're honest in saying so, that haven't either done or been on a fire scene, where wearing of protective gear has been relaxed to accomodate the temperatures. Thank you

Feen

Not exactly the safest way, is it.
And was that hole really necessary?

For years I walked on this sidewalk to Sta. 74. Time after time I would wonder when, not if, someone would swerve their car over the edge and crash into the parking lot. Thank God the fence caught them. I guess we can safely assume that a guard rail will soon, if not already, pop up at that corner to prevent another incident. At least I would hope so. Good shots Feen!

Great composition and a great catch. You almost couldn't stage this if you wanted to. Firefighter in the foreground silhouetted by the fire showing the immense power of fire vs. one person, two aerials raised to "fight the beast" and the subtlety of the American Flag to the left of the firefighter emphasizing service to community and country. Wow!
(Or maybe, you just thought it was a cool picture. However, based on the composition of many of the other pictures I believe you saw many of the elements in this scene, or went searching for them, before you took the picture. Nicely done.)

I'll be honest and tell you I wasn't looking at the flag at the time, but yes I did compose the silhouette and the 2 ladders into the picture. Silhouettes are one of my fav's....Feen

Hey Bri, hudos to you on the Ferne Blvd job. Your pictures were nice.I must say, the photos where you didn't use a flash turned out spectacular to me. They almost make me feel like I was back home in UD standing out front of the building. This photo is a great one.
